Who Am I

My name is André-Marcel Hellmund. I studied Computer Science at the University of Cooperative Education in Stuttgart and at the Karlsruhe Institue of Technology. Currently, I am working for the FZI - Research Center for Information Technology in Karlsruhe as Scientific Researcher in the field of intelligent and autonomous vehicles.

The focus of my work is the automated, vision-based generation of highly accurate, rich road maps using low-cost sensor systems (e.g. from a smartphone) and the precise lane-level localization of the vehicle using the generated map as a prior. The primary context is for now set to highway scenarios to make autonomous operation modes on highways robust on long-distance travels and for various external conditions like weather or day-time.
